Had this board for one day and i have a very strange problem:

Basically the system will sort of freeze where i can still move the mouse but i cant click on any icons etc.

30 secs-1 min everything is ok

Has anyone else had this

Theres a big thread here: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1577853 though im not sure if my problem is exactly the same as my system mouse is still responsive just nothing else works

I must add that my OS install is linked to my old Mobo so im not sure if a clean install of 7 is worth doing?

Im running at stock on the CPU currently.

I have the P8P67 Deluxe board (1204) and G.Skill RipJaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9

After some reading it seems a lot of people with problem all have GSkill Ram

Some people have said to disabled c3 and c6 in the bios and to increase ram to 1.55-160v

New Bios/UEFI:

I would have said its the RAM, running the geil stuff here and its fine even with all 4 slots filled.

New install of windows is possibly a good idea

I think a new install of windows is the best option - you can't really confirm there is an issue with the RAM without doing so.

I would have expected RAM issues to result in a full crash, restart or BSOD rather than what you describe.

Is anything reported in the windows event viewer?

I am running the G.SKill RAM (CAS 7 version) without issues - managed to get the C7 timings with 1.5v rather than the rated 1.6v.

^ Have lots of Errors in WEV,these are the only relevant ones, seems to indicate a Sata error, all my drives are in the 6GB ports,i have only my cases external esata plugged into the 3GB ports.

The Sata errors might be when i unistalled chipset drivers etc as i lost a few of my drives in windows and have to reinstall drivers,i dont know what the other errors are.

If the problem carries on i will do a clean install next week as im on holiday from tomorrow.

Yes. It would happen once a day or so. When it did happen, all hdd activity would cease (Or at least it sounded like it ceased) and exhibit the symptoms you describe. After 30 -60 seconds it would start again. Since hearing of the flawed chipset issue, I moved hdd ports to the recommended ones. It has only happened twice since then. I don't know what causes it.

Others have had this problem too.

^Lets hope B3 or a a bios update will fix this, have a read of the links above some really good info.

What ram are you using btw?

Ah, you could tell I didn't read the links. Shame on me. ;) It has only happened a couple of times in the last month so not too bothered. Besides, like you say, B3 should be along soon.

Corsair XMS3 at 1600mhz and iirc at 1.55volts.

Just remembered to say, when I experienced the freeze ups prior to moving sata ports, it was running at stock speed. Now I'm running a moderate overclock (4Ghz) so the twice it has happened since, I could just as easily blame myself for a poor bios config. Anyway, hurry up B3. I like new toys.
