Seeing as this monitor was announced in January 2017, anyone know if/when its going to come to market? If they leave it too long, it'll be superseded by something else and no longer high-end.

You do understand its main target audience is visual professionals, right? I'm guessing you've already read some previews, but here's one:

ASUS introduced a new professional-grade monitor at CES this week. The unit supports a 4K (UHD) resolution, HDR10, a very high brightness and an astonishing range of color gamuts required by artists, designers, photographers and video professionals today, including the Rec. 2020 (BT.2020) standard. The ProArt PA32U will be available in the second half of this year at a rather hefty price tag, as you can imagine. In addition, ASUS announced its ProArt PA27AQ monitor aimed at the entry level segment of the professional market.

The ASUS ProArt PA32U will be available in Q3 2017 for $1799 – $1999
It will be fairly expensive, and it won't be for gaming. Nor for general computing. When you are working with a wider color gamut, it means you should have it color-controlled on every step of the way (monitor, GPU, software). If not, then colors will show "wrong", as in the colors will have more "neony" hue.

On the other hand, if you are aware of this, and it is indeed what you're after, then don't fret. That monitor seems to implement quite a lot of the latest technologies, already. And in this market segment, the perceived "superiority" isn't that much about new features, but about color accuracy and consistency. As such, it probably won't be "superseded" anytime soon, at least in the areas that matter. As for whether it will even gain the top place of the current offerings (for its intended market segment), is another story, and you'll have to wait for reviews for that. Feature set is indeed only half of the story.

Should arrive by the end of the year but as aatu said above it is a professional monitor for photography and colour accuracy. We will also have new gaming ultrawides coming soon too!

Will at ROG UK

I'd be using it for both professional and gaming in my home office/game room. Am hoping to get away with just the one monitor for both work and Xbox One X.
