Hi chaps

So my trusty PG278Q that I bought back around 2015 has finally died, and typical ASUS don't want to know. So I'm on the hunt for a new monitor...

I'm pretty flexible on budget so I'll cut straight to it... ideally I'd like to stay at 1440p and although I'm not a hardcore/competitive gamer, I'd like to keep a decent refresh rate / Gsync if possible. The monitor itself will have a couple of main uses, one being for my main gaming PC (which is currently a 980ti but is being upgraded to a new 3 series rig in 6-12 months) as well as for work - which I plug into for more real estate than my 13" laptop screen.

I'd like to aim for around a 32-34" screen based on my new desk / office space - and I've been gravitating towards a Samsung G7 (despite some known issues) and for future proofing when it comes to my new rig etc.

What other models should I be considering? The G7 is quite a bit more expensive and I'm probably going to be just as satisfied with something like one of these Gigabyte models at either 32 or 34 Ultrawide based on my casual gaming / office use scenarios:

Anyone any thoughts on those models, or equivalents?

Dell S2721DGF if you can find one?

Out of curiosity, as I have the same Asus monitor as you, also bought in 2015 - how did it die? The power supply brick on mine went years ago but was able to source a replacement thanks to Mr Bezos. In my case, the monitor would start switching itself on or off and then wouldn't get any power at all.

What kind of budget figure are you working with? The Gigabyte G34WQC you mentioned in your list, is one of several models in the same price range, which all use the same Samsung VA curved panel. If you check around the forum however, there have been loads of people getting flickering problems with the iiyama GB3466WQSU model which uses it, and the very few people who've been able to get a G34WQC have had some issues related to screen flickering and build quality too.

Expert reviewers are all raving about the LG-34GN850 and MSI Optix MP341CQR, but those are £900 models.
