Asus pk5 premium onboard audio

Hi guys,

I was recommended to get the asus pk5 premium and use onboard sound rather than x-fi with vista 64. The problem is i now have no sound. Can get headphones to work sometimes, though i keep getting something come up asking what i have plugged into green jack, i select front headphones and it says thats incorrect and to plug them into the green jack, go figure.

However the speakers arent working at all. I have creative inspire 5.1 digital 5700 with the little amp thing and connected it using an optical cable. However there is no sound coming out at all.

Any ideas?

have you got the correct asus or realteck drives installed?.. it is displaying the jack sensing feature..

I just installed the sound thing on the asus driver cd. Yeah it does the jack sensing feature.

Well i kinda got somewhere with this. I disabled the speaker on the sound control properties so just left spdif. Now if i have a sound source running, i hear nothing, but if i open up properties on spdif and then click a different tab the sound kicks in. But i have to do this everytime i do anything with sound it wont just play the sound.

Ideas?

Make sure you don't have any conflicting hardware installed it could be using instead of the onboard.

There is no issues in Vista with an X-FI now, on that mobo esp and with 4GB Memory even etc etc.
