I have this system made of second hand bits using the Asus PRIME Z370-P Motherboard. I Cant get the PC to detect any GPU in the 1st 16x Slot. The only other device installed is a PCie M.2 in the first slot. Is this normal, or just a crap motherboard (was cheap from mm)

Remove the m.2 device, does the GPU work? If not swap in another GPU to confirm if the slot works. If not check the slot for physical damage (people have been known to try and remove cards without using the tab to unlock them). After that consult the manual on PCIe order and confirm, but normally a board isn’t going to disable the primary PCIe slot due to an M2 device.
