I have been playing about with Q-Fan control in my Commando bios and for the life of me, it doesnt seem to do anything. I only have 3 profiles being performance, silent and something else. All I want is the fan to spin at 50% (or so) until cpu temp gets to 50C (or so) and then it spins up to full. Do you require 4 pin fans or something to get Q-Fan working? Ideally Id like to get Q-Fan working as a bios level option instead of using software within windows. Call me pedantic but I dont need extra services running that arent really needed :D

Thanks for the help!

ps: this refers to the CPU Q-Fan bit, my case fans spin full tilt all the time (Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000 120mm, cant hear em)

I think its Q-Fan2 on that board? (Q-Fan is an earlier version). I have this feature on the P5B-Deluxe/Wifi and it works fine although I am currently doing the opposite of you, CPU Fan is 120mm Sharkoon 1000 at full rpms and two of the case fans are 80mm Sharkoon 2000's which Q-Fan2 is running at roughly 1200rpms.

For the case fans to be controlled by Q-Fan2 they have to be connected to specific fan-headers, but of course the CPU fan-header is one of those ports so it should be working for you. I don't think you need a 4-pin fan to benefit from the Q-Fan2 control but having a 4-pin fan makes that control more precise (not 100% on that thought but pretty sure).

What fan have u got connected to the cpu fan-header?

I have a sharkoon 2000 120mm which is why I would like it to run ~50% when the system is idle. Its not LOUD but its definately the loudest thing in my PC. I will have another fiddle tonight with the settings and if I have no joy Ill just go back to the Sharkoon 1000 I had originally. I just wanted the extra oomph from the 2000rpm fan when under load but not the increased noise when at idle.
