Hiya's,

Had to replace my initial R5E due to problems

OCUK tested and pronounced it dead and replaced like for like then and there

I chose to have like for like

I had W7 x64 Ultimate installed, upgraded free to W10 X64 Pro ........

Made a stupid error while being sleepy and had to do a repair via W10 options etc

My boot settings haven't changed, i am now one hdd down (gone awol !) and try as i may the bootup time takes way longer than previously .........

But i best add, after doing W10's own repair option, i did try to take ownership and delete my Old windows folder

Never had a problem doing this in the past, but it threw up quite a few folders/items i just couldn't delete

I then ran SFC /SCANNOW and it threw up many errors it couldn't fix

Now, i have done a fresh install of W7 x64 ultimate, and while i search/type it's checking to update etc

Should a fresh OS install sort things ? or does it look like this mobo is going south too ?

Cheers

Def

ps : just read, some slow boot issues can be solved by clearing/resetting cmos and a fresh OS install (that make sense ? )

Thanks

Hiya's,

Upgrade from a fresh w7 x64 ultimate to W10 x64 Pro went fine

Running SFC /SCANNOW shows all's well

Just stuck with a missing 500gb hdd (think it's a 500gb, 7200rpm) and still the slow bootup time

I will try different sata cables to rule a duff cable out, i know that's a rare problem though

I notice this replacment mobo's bios is the very latest non-beta

Is it worth me flashing back to say the same as my original boards bios ?

Really gutted if i have to swap mobo again :-(

Any suggestions just throw em out here

Thanks

Ok,

May be of some help to anyone else ...........

The replacement mobo came with the then latest non-beta bios 2011 (beta has been out a few days, though i've not tried it)

I tried sata lead swaps etc to try to find my awol hdd, turns out my hdd has died (soon see) , when i shutdown/reboot after posting this and then reconnect it i'm not 100% sure yet

So, i've got my fast boot back, still minus a hdd as above

I flashed back bios to 1902 off asus's site, grabbed most actually just in case

Not long booted up, speed into bios was faster than previously, exiting bios and also actual general speediness navigating the bios is back to the norm

So, the 2011 bios seems to not favour my setup lol

Well here goes a shutdown/reboot and see if missing hdd is deffo dead

Thanks

Def

To draw a line under the missing hdd and slow boot time

Hdd is dead, thank gawd i spread certain data across my drives

Now with bios 1902 all is well on the fast boot front :-)

Got two other hdd's to test before i pop to ocuk and get a new one (samsung ssd i think)

EDIT : A big edit here, i forgot to mention, folders for example in windows took ages to show etc !!!, now they're instantly there, pretty big worrying problem for me and anyone else in same position

Have Fun
