Good day all.

Long time lurker seeking help for new hardware upgrade. I currently have the following hardware :-

Asus rampage V
i7 5960x
16 gb ram
Titan x
Corsair neutron gtx 128 ssd
Asus xonar stxII

custom watercooled gpu, ram and cpu.

I have recently acquired another titan x and an intel 750 pcie ssd which I will be adding to the rig specifications above. I currently have my Titan X in the second pci-e lane 16x slot and the sound card 5th pci slot which should be a 1 or 2x slot. So the question I am proposing to the guru's on this forum is what is the best optimal hardware configuration to get the best SLi performance for my gpu's along with my pci-e ssd as the OS drive. I am currently thinking of having the GPU's in the first pci-e lane (red) and the fourth pci-e lane (red). The problem is which pci-e lane to have the SSD and the sound card in. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated as i do not want to dismantle the whole loop and assemble only to realize/or told that what i have set up is not going to bring out the full potential of the hardware i have just invested in.

Second question I have is that the OS (windows 10) is currently installed which is an upgrade from my retail windows 7 ultimate edition. Am I going to run into any trouble when installing the OS as from my windows 7 key. Will it automatically be windows 7 version or a windows 10 version. Or should i install a fresh copy of windows 10 from the windows site and enter my windows 7 license key (will that even work).

Sorry if I sound very noobish, i have not dabbled in computer hardware for quite sometime since the x58 era. Please treat me as noobish as possible.

Regards gatecrasherlok

Thankyou in advance.

Given the amount of lanes you have on the CPU you can put the GPUs in an x16 running PCI lane, and slot in the SSD and sound card wherever there is room. As you are watercooled, cooling isn't really a concern on on say air.

Since the November update of Windows 10, you can use Windows 7 & 8 keys to activate, so in-theory you should be good with downloading the latest ISO from the Microsoft website using the provided tool, and tell it to create a bootable USB stick to boot from in the process.
