ASUS Rampage x48 problem

Hi guys,

Got a problem with my new system, its an ASUS rampage formula x48. It's awfully a long booting process for my liking, it should boot up a lot quicker than it does. Heres how it boots...

Power ON...
POST (4 to 6 secs)
Blank black Screen with underscore ticker (30 secs)
Windows XP loading screen (5 secs)
Desktop.

I know for sure the 30 secs loading screen is a load of ****** never had this problem before with any other motherboard... any help much appreciated.

How many usb devices do you have? try unpluging as many as possible

these are the only 2 usb devices i use.

G15 USB KEYBOARD
USB Microsoft optical

Pauses during boot point to faulty hardware attached to the computer. Try removing everything thats not needed.

Worst i saw was my father in laws laptop....15 mins pause due to a dodgey port replicator.

Obviously you have installed all the required drivers for the board etc?

Pauses during boot can also be RAID controllers with no drives attached looking for a drive.

You might want to disable any controllers that aren't in use.
