right i orderd a asus ramoage II extreme for my new i7 build (mate doing it for me) and i ordered OCZ Reaper 6GB tripple ddr3 ram 1866mhz version tri-channel
and when the pc trys to boot all it does is beep which my mate thinks is a memory problem but on the ocuk website is says the board supports 2000mhz when in the manual sez it olny supports 1800mhz do you think will be the problem or somthing esle and is it is were will i stand on ocuk changing it it for some that will work as they kind of missled me in to thinking it would work?

Hi
Re compatibility, its prob fine, chances are when they first wrote the "advert" for the board 2000 didnt exist, thats all, even if it didnt support it at full speed it should juust run it at 1800 anyway
Re the beeps, theyll be in a specific sequence, a combination of long and short, your mobo manual should tell you what the specific beeps mean, if not check the support website
If it is the memory its possible its just one stick, try each of them individually, if it boots with just one in then yeah youve prob got a faulty stick, youll still have to return them all but least youll know thats the problem

yea we have tryed all the sticks by them selfs in all the slot and in with all the sticks in diffrent slots ill will check the beeping thing and see what i can find out thanks for the help

Could be the graphics card making it beep....maybe try reseating it or a different slot to rule it out....

I'm sure that there is a sequence to the beeps and what they mean...maybe in the manual. Also, might be worth checking if ANY of the pins in the 'board have been bent during installation of the cpu.

ok update there is not longer any beeps but the gfx card isent powering up tryed it with a 260 and 4780 olny gpus i had to hand and its the same with both of them so im starting to think that it might be the gfx card but ive got a hold of some more memory to try that check the pins none seem to be damaged

ahh, contrary to what you might think the beeps were good, it allows you to diagnose, now with no beeps youre trouble shooting blind, could be gfx, or mobo, or even PSU, only way is to swap out one by one

i will try to get my hands on a psu mine is a 1000w psu from alienware but it is 2 years olny nowor close and i fried all my old parts so that could have gone aswell
