Wanting to build my system this weekend and I'm waiting on my 6gb Kingston DDR3. Wondering if it would be ok to build it and just run my Corsair DDR2 (1gb) till Monday when I receive my DDR3? Is it just a case of swapping out the memory and it'll auto recognise?

Just itching to get building and if its ok to go ahead with the DDR for a day and install win7 etc etc and just swap out memory I will do!

Cheers guys

Ah, sorry should have checked. Didn't think it'd be an actual different slot... for some reason assumed there was backwards compatibility. Ah well there goes my plan to build system at the weekend... or I could start building and tidy cables and whatnot, then whack in memory on Monday.

Knew it was a silly question, but for the wrong reason :p haha

Thanks chaps.

You could probably quite easily build it without the memory as long as your cooler doesn't block the memory slots. My TRUE only allows me access to one slot when it's attached.

Yeah, I went for a Noctua Cooler, so hopefully it'll clear the slots, and it'll be a quick install of the memory :)

Sounds good - you can probably mount it facing towards the back of the case anyway - I had to install mine pointing up for some reason. My ram slots also seem to be rather closer to the CPU socket than a lot of boards.

Also, anybody installed the included thermal sensor probes to the heatsink/cpu or is this not a good idea? I remember I did this a while back with current system and a front drive bay temp sensor and always had issues cos probe wasn't small/flat enough.

Ah yeah, Hopefully it'll all work out. I can't wait... got all these goodies sitting on my desk ready to go in :D
