I had a fan fail on an Asus 5870 within about 6 months of purchase (bought day 1 when it became available). At the point that fan stopped working that particular model was already EOL and replaced by another, they couldn't fix it, and the successor was a fair bit more expensive. Neither retailer or Asus was willing to replace it with what was essentially the same card, and all I got was a refund that didn't even fully cover the full price of what I bought it for. I've sent the retailer a letter to complain and that I expected proper compensation, no response was ever received - and there's laws against this kind of behaviour, though at the time I surely wasn't able to take legal action against either. Of course, that particular retailer and Asus had both lost my business forever that day.
