Am I being picky here?

I got an Asus ROG laptop. It was to take abroad to work whilst away.. It took a long time to come after ordering, was on pre-order about a month. I got it just in time and went away. Arrived early November.

Noticed it had a dead pixel but left it till we got back in the country and sorted. reported that to OCUK but I was busy. Anyway. the pixel become a line. The pixel itself is still noticeably white but the line is odd, almost dashed and faded colour... it is very noticeable though.

So I report that it got worse it in December. We break for Christmas and today I got around to sorting the replacement, however, it isn't the ROG Swift monitors, it is a ROG laptop so now it's I have to contact Asus.

That pretty much was call center who told me to fill in a web form. Robot replies with repair pickup and some t&c's.

I just spent £1000 on something which was faulty from the get go... I don't want it repaired? Am I being unreasonable?

The last RMA I had was a £2000 Sony Projector which was away for like 6 weeks. When it came back it was working well.. but scratched to hell, mine was mint.. Either it was treated like crap or I got another one back as refurb. In this case I just trusted the company I dealt with so I actually didn't take the usual pictures and log all the numbers, etc. and after waiting soooo long, I just wanted a projector again.

So I still have a bad taste from RMA. I mean, this laptop is currently brand new, not a mark, clean as a whistle. If it didn't come back the same way i'd be gutted.

What would you do? I personally don't trust the RMA repair, shipping, etc. and feel like the new product shouldn't need to be repaired. It should be replaced?

This is why I don't buy Asus any more - brand new expensive "premium" ROG branded monitor failing and they think it acceptable to replace with a refurb **** that could get that kind of shoddy customer service without paying a premium for it.

Unfortunately I suspect your options are limited - could try kicking up a fuss but generally doesn't get much results with Asus unless you are on like your 7th replacement.
