Asus ROG question with HDMI

Hi I've bought a display port to hdmi adapter so I can play Xbox one just bought one, on the monitor I get no picture. Has anyone else tried this or have I bought the wrong thing?

I had the same issue and could not get it working using two different adapters, one active one passive, sorry i know that dont help much.
 
The rog has no internal scaler so cannot accept a signal that isn't the native 2560x1440. Thats also why it doesnt have multiple inputs as far as i know.

This is untested though, It just supports above and beyond the resolution you are on, so I would assume that it would work.

The xbox can only output at 1080p max though can't it? You would need to upscale it to 1440p before sending the signal on to the monitor and i'm not sure there is any kind of adapter about that can do that. I think i read somewhere that somebody used a capture card to do it but no idea how well it worked.
 
oh yea, totally skipped that little detail in my head. was just thinking the problem was the adapter not supporting the monitors resolution, not the fact that the source cuouldn't output it either lol.

you can quite often adapt a DP source when outputting to e.g. hdmi or dvi, but it rarely/doesn't work the other way round, the only way to get a DP signal in to a DP monitor really is to send via DP

there've been a few people try, not just with this monitor but in general, and I've never heard of anyone getting it to work

For accuracy's sake I'll also add that when buying active adapters you'd need an HDMI to DisplayPort, not the other way round. Source connection to screen connection. It's significantly more expensive than a DP to HDMI I'm afraid!

For some (passive) adapters they're both ways.
