I was looking to upgrade my gaming system and have set my sights of going down the Ryzen route. Going with a 1700x with the aim to have a stable 4.0ghz overclock. I also have read that the AM4 platform is to be supported for the next Zen 2 and 3 processors as well so I really want to make a careful decision with my motherboard to get the best value for money.
I am trying to decide between the Asus ROG Strix B350 and any of the cheaper x370 boards. I am running a single 1080ti and do not plan on running SLI at all. I do not use heavy peripherals so don't need a metric ton of ports nor do I need a lot of SATA ports. I run one Samsung m2 and 2 SSD hdds. RGB and aesthetics is not a priority for me.
Therefore, my main purpose is to ensure I get a board that will give me the best stable overclock for the long term. I have the following options and was hoping you guys could guide me in the right direction.

Thank you for your help
