Hi, I’ve had a Asus RT-AC68U and a Huawei HG612 modem delivered today and I’ve setup everything by plugging in the modem and ethernet across to the router.

From completing the Asus network setup I get a message saying ‘your ISP’s DHCP does not function properly.

are there any settings I need to do within to get it up and running?

I just followed the manual that came with the Asus and I just followed the onscreen instruction where I set my ISP login details and it asked me to setup passwords.

My ISP is Sky and im on fibre.

Sky don't use standard PPPoE connections.

I don't know if the router you bought supports Sky or not, you'll need to check for yourself.

Google 'Sky MER' (although it isn't actually MER) or 'Sky DHCP option 61'.

Sky have changed their T&C’s so that you can use 3rd party routers with them so I dont see that being the issue here.

It's not a T&Cs issue. It's how your router negotiates the connection to Sky.

Sky don't use vanilla PPPoE connections that almost any router can use. They use a connection type that the router needs to specifically support. If the router doesn't support it then it'll never work on a Sky connection.

For the background Google 'Sky MER' and/or 'Sky DHCP option 61' as I suggested above. You may just need to change a setting, or you may be out of luck. You certainly won't be the first to try and use that router with Sky, so the information will be out there.

This is one of the reasons I'd never have my broadband with Sky.

I can’t seem to find any info that could help me from your suggestions.

surely there’s someone on this forum who were in the same situation im in that could shed some light.
