My Router keeps losing connection. ver Wifi and Ethernet. I've rebooted a number of times and updated the firmware. but still, it keeps happening. I know it's the router because when I lose connection ver the pc. I just plug it straight into the Virgin box and it works again.

So am looking to replace this item and upgrade it. Which makes and modals would give me the same coverage as this one Because we can use the internet in the garden when guests come round.

Don't waste your time. ASUS make garbage networking products and have done for a long time, they're well known for dropping interfaces and have done since the early days of the N56U/N66U. My first question is what exactly is it you need to do that you can't on the VM Hub? The answers to that will dictate what you would normally consider replacing it with.

The hub doesn't reach down the garden. Signal strength is weak. Also, the boxes are in the oak cabinet. The Asus is in the Dinning room.

Putting any Wi-Fi router in a cabinet is going to have a significant negative impact on coverage. If you do nothing else, look at moving it. You would likely be better served by installing a wireless AP connected to the Hub closer to the garden, if it’s really a priority an external rated AP with either a directional or onmni antennae or a mesh system. In some cases VM will provide a (not awful) Wi-Fi disc set-up FOC.

That's why we have a cat 8 under the floor boards running to the asus router. Which is what we use. The virgin hubs WiFi is turned off.
