Well it has now replaced my Rev A HH3.

After installing and updating the firmware to the latest, it seems that my ping has increased [BT speedtest from 19 to 26 and speedtest.net from 5 to 10]
and my d/l speed has dropped from 69 to 64.

These are consistant figures.

Got any ideas, folks?

I would later look to installing Padavans firmware much better than the original ASUS rubbish.

This is the firmware to install.

I am not saying it will improve the problems you are having, but this is far better interface and feature based firmware. Very stable also.

If you rebooted the modem it probably re synced at a lower speed. Be careful don't turn the modem off to frequently as interleaving could be applied to the line. Just connect the router and let it obtain a connection.

Did you reboot the modem?

ping bbc.co.uk
tracert bbc.co.uk
Run http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ and get the extra information by clicking Further Diagnostics

I had used the BT tester, but the further diagnostics only give best speed d/l and u/l.

It says "Your speed test has completed and the results are shown above, however during the test an error occurred while trying to retrieve additional details regarding your service. As a result we are unable to determine if the speed you received during the test is acceptable for your service. Please re-run the test if you require this additional information. "

This is the bit that shows what the expected speed range is, I believe. I retried with same result.

ping to BeeB was 14ms

Are any of the non-Asus firmwares useful for normal use?

I had problems with my nt56U wouldn't work well when using teamviewer and some other apps. Haven't looked back since installing padavans one much better. I would urge you to try it. You can always flash back to original if you need to.

You're still on fastpath. Hop 8 in the tracert is probably adding additional latency to your connection.

I have, a number of times.
All I get is the message below. I never received that when I was using the HH3.
The ping is annoying to say the least @24 from bt or 14[previously 5] from pingtest.net

1. Best Effort Test:

Download Speed : 64.28 Mbps

2. Upstream Test:

Upload Speed : 15.16 Mbps

Your speed test has completed and the results are shown above, however during the test an error occurred while trying to retrieve additional details regarding your service. Lying gitz!!
In despair I just contacted BT India........

After 20 minutes of pointing out that their speed tester fails in diagnostics AND BTinfinity's speed test checker fails with;

As you’re not on a BT line, we need to check against your address. ???????

They guy says there is a problem in your area. Thats all he will say now.
To check, I have to disconnect.
According to the Service line there is no problem......

This is down to BT's inefficient routing. You'll have to live with it or switch to a better ISP when the contract is up.
