Asus Ryujin fan issues

Hey guys, I recvd a new ocuk build just before xmas based on Radiance Pro with a bit of extra ram. So far (aside from the fact that I'm hoping it occurs to Asus to hire a programmer to work on their software stack sometime soon rather than the - feed random noise into a compiler - approach they're obviously using for now) the only real issue I have is the Ryujin cooler. Sometimes when I power on the top fan doesn't start. Solution is power off and back on (sometimes a couple of times) and eventually it comes to life.

I've checked the connections on the mobo. Any other ideas?

When the fan is not spinning will it spin if you start it with your finger? When the system is off you could give the fan blades a very gently pull outwards. This has sometimes fixed fans for me with this issue. I think sometimes there is just a little too much resistance from the bearing which pulling the blades can solve sometimes

What’s the CPU temps?

There are times the fans won’t start due to CPU temp being below the start threshold.

Cheers guys, I'll check tomorrow if it does it again cold boot and report back. The fact that it only seems to happen cold start makes me think you might be on the money with cpu temps, RJC but if I'm reading the bios right all 3 rad fans are hanging off one power connector is it even possible to turn them on individually? Just looking at it the lights have gone out on the gpu now. That's new.

I pulled the curve way down for that chap. Flat out it's like being in a dentists chair. Temps are fine at stock speed so any overclocking is going to be limited by the noise factor - no way I'm running that beast at full tilt.

With regard the rad fans, it hasn't happened since. Lights are twitchy as hell, tho. Spent all day yesterday with rainbow puke cos I had zero access to config through windows. Turned it on this morning and everything was fine. Custom gif on the cooler usually works for a day or two worth of reboots before I have to turn it back on. TBH this whole armoury core thing is a total ******** but it's early days and asus at least get credit for realising the best thing to do with Aura was slit the coder's throat and start afresh. Hopefully they'll get it working eventually.
