I am using this system that I have just recently built

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth P67 B3 Rev
CPU: Core i5 2500K
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H60
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz
PSU: Coolermaster Silent Pro 1000W
Graphics: MSI GeForce GTX 580 OC Twin FrozR II 1536MB
Sound Card: Asus Xonar D2X 7.1
HDD: OCZ Agility 3 120Gig
Case: Coolermaster HAF 912

The motherboard comes with a utility to monitor the motherboards various temperature sensors and the CPU and it is these sesnors that my questions revolve around. After a few hours of intense gaming (Battlefield 3 maxed out or Skyrim) the CPU hits 32 degrees which I believe is great but the GPU hits around 88 degree which I think is causing some of the motherboard sensors to have a fit. The sensors around the USB 3 chipset, SATA 3 and the PCI-E ports all go above 70 degrees to around 72 causing them to shade in red. The system still runs perfectly stably however I dont like these readings. Are they too high for the motherboard and is it going to break running like this?

Cany anyone please tell me what I can do to help this situtaion OR if it isnt an issue shall I disbale the temp warning message and just forget about it if its safe for the motherboard?

Thanks

you still need cooling for your heatsinks around your cpu socket,as you have a watercooler where once there was a fan they will be a little hotter now as they rely on your cpu fan to cool them too

The sensors that are going above 70 degrees are the ones located around the PCI-Express 2.0 slot however so the USB 3 chipset and the PCI-E area and the SATA 3 area. The ones around the CPU are steady at 48 degrees and so are not any where near an issue. The software Im using is the Asus motherboard monitoring utility that came with the MB. The thing is the MB has this thermal armour kit on the board but I think the GPU is just cooking the board. Maybe if I improve the air flow of the case things will chill out a little more.

I really just need to know what the dangerous temp would be for the MB. A GPU can hit like 98 degrees before its an issue and thats a device thats working hard but I cant find anywhere the safe operating temps of these areas of the MB

Ignore the AI Suite (as I presume thats what you are using). A few weeks ago mine came up saying the chipset was 120c! Use CPUID HW monitor, should give you better readings for your sensors. Even with the thermal armor it shouldn't be anywhere near those temps, well unless the board is coated in an inch of dust.

Chipset temps on my P8Z68 rarely hit above 27c.

Ah much better :) thanks guys. Who would have thought that a program made by the same company who makes the motherboard would create a program that doesnt work properly haha

Everything is much better now so at least I dont need an extra fan for the motherboard :)

Yeah the only thing AI Suite is any use for is the fan xpert side of things, the rest is pretty useless.

I'd just come out of a round of BF3 to warnings popping up saying its 120+c, promptly panicked and posted here, found out its just down to the AI Suite.

What temps are you getting on HWmonitor btw?

Everything is around the 30 degree mark after gaming. I still need to sort out my case airflow however as my GPU sometimes peaks at 91 degrees (according to msi afterburner). Its the only thing holding my system back now. My CPU peaks at 32 degrees so good airflow will hopefully sort the GTX580

To be fair though theres a fair difference between a 560 and a 580 :p ands as the max operating temp is 98 degrees of a 580 Im a way off a problem I just need to find a better air flow solution so I can keep the whole system down. Besides Ive just found out that afterburer for some reason locked the GPU fan at 50% so it never spun above that so now Ive told the fan to auto adjust the temps now level off at 61 degrees after BF3 for 4 hours so things are getting much better although I now need to find the best speed for the fan to get the best temp to noise ratio sorted. 80% fan speed isnt quiet enough for my liking so Ill set it at around 65 to 70 % speed for gaming to see how that goes although its still the quietest system ive ever had lol
