I've had my overclockers built system since Aug 2011 and its been great but I just tried to add more memory and its now dead!

I purchased more of the same memory it came with, Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8 Vengeance 8GB (2x4)*, plugged it in turned it on and nothing! Removed it it was, fine, put it back in nothing.

So I read the manual and pressed the MemOK button as it said, and after a while the flashing red led went back to solid. I removed the new memory again, but now the system won't work with the original memory configuration, even after pressing the MemOk button again.

I've tried the only other thing that appears possible with the mobo, and cleared the CMOS - still dead.

I filled in the ASUS help form and asked what it could be, what could I do and just to get an answer back to talk to the original retailer!

Help!
Regards
Tim

* The new memory was not quite the same as the new says ver 4.13 and the original was ver2.12

** The system specs (from memory) are: ASUS Sabertooth P67 (Rev 3) Mobo; i7 processor; H60 cooler; Nvidia GTX580; Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8 Vengeance 8GB (2x4) memory; Corsair 750W PSU; Corsair 600T case

try removing the motherboard cmos battery for 30 minutes then put back and try

Thanks for the answer - I may give that ago but its not as trivial as on most boards as I think its under the "Thermal Armor" and I'm not sure if that means a full system disassemble to get at it.

I honestly hope they didn't design it so you can't access the cmos bat without taking all the armor off. That's a awful design flaw right there LOL.

I recently had a sabertooth z77 till it died :'(

the battery is under the thermal armour unfortunately, I take it you've tried the cmos jumper on the board?

if that doesn't work then its a case of taking the thermal armour off or going through your retailer to get replacement/refund

short the cmos pins for a longish time then, maybe three to four minutes then try

also hold in the front panel power button with the power off to drain all the boards caps of power

Fixed!

Going to give up,
....well not quiet!

I personally gave up but as the local computer shop does a fault finding for £20 I gave it to them and they got it working! \o/

When I asked how? they get said they by doing not a lot, they just checked everything was connected and it started up fine! So I guess either a loose connection or a dry joint?

I thought I had checked everything, but I guess I missed something, or they have magic hands, or maybe it just fancied a ride in my boot.... any which way I'll take it just that I am not writing this on my own computer and can play games tonight

Thanks to those that responded

Cheers
Tim
