Hi,

I have been asked a question by a guy at work I built a pc for some while ago, but don't really truthfully know the answer, so was wondering if someone here might be able to point me in the right direction or even tried and knows the answer?

He has a Asus Sabertooth p67 motherboard the same as mine and he is running 2 x 4gb GeIL EVO Leggera 1600mhz ram on it. He wants to upgrade to 2 x 8gb memory and has asked me what is the fastest memory he can put in his motherboard. I thought it was 1866mhz, but after looking in the bios it has an option for 2133mhz and 2400mhz. Can this board really support ram of this speed, because if it can he wants to put some 2133 or 2400mhz ram in it.

Has anyone used 2133mhz or 2400mhz ram on a p67 motherboard? better still a sabertooth with a 2600k processor.

It just seems strange why the option would be in the bios if it doesn't work.

He's still keen to order up the memory, as he wants 16gb, but he also wants to be sure it will work.

2133mhz,i doubt he'd run much higher

currently running 2133mhz ram in an asus z68,2600k cpu

p67 isn't much different tbh so should run at that speed also

Only 1886Mhz is supported officially on XMP, anything above that speed is clased as an overclock, which then puts all the burden on the quality of the IMC in the CPU.

And to be honest going over 1886Mhz won't make any difference to performance so it's a moot upgrade.

Ok guys thanks

Like I said he wants 16gb and the ram he has at the moment is only 1600mhz so 16gb of 2133mhz should be a bit of an upgrade
