Updated my Sabertooth Z87 last night with the 1007 bios update and it is no longer responsive, For some reason now the CPU LED is always on and it won't boot, Power comes on and the fans all spin up but that's about it.
Tried all the usual stuff, clear CMOS, Remove battery, Hold down the power button with the PSU unplugged, Nothing works.
I just got off the phone with an Asus technician and apparently this is affecting nearly everyone who updates their bios to the 1007 version.
Only solution is to RMA and wait the long tedious weeks until the mobo is returned.

Just got another reply from an Asus technician and they are now trying to blame the customer by saying people are being impatient and interrupting the bios update process, never seen an industry like this with such poor customer relations.

Not having much luck Dicehunter :-( i am sure i read a post saying about a used haswell CPU and now this.

Yep you did indeed, The used Haswell thing and bios problem isn't just affecting me though, According to a conversation I'm having at the minute with an Asus employee faulty products don't exist in this world
Anyway I'm off to phone OCUK to RMA my used haswell and faulty mobo, Already talked to them online so I'm hoping this will get sorted out, Not a good week so far :(

I've updated mine with 1007 without problem but I was VERY surprised to see that it was still doing part of the BIOS update after it had reset itself and gone through a prolonged restart sequence.

I can see a lot people bricking their boards because of it.

Edit: It's absolutely imperative that you do not power down or reset the PC until the PC boots back up into the BIOS screen - this can take a few minutes and a couple self power cycles.

Could I ask what was your reasoning for performing the update Jokester? What feature did the new bios provide that you needed fixed ?

why rma? asus bios chips are removable, they simply pull out, either request replacement bios chip from asus with a previous bios preflashed onto it or scour fleebay, plug new bios chip into the board and away you go

Unwitting ? Damn right I am today, The reason for the flash failure was due to the fact the electricity went out on the street for 20-30 minutes and I didn't even notice lol
Managed to flash the bios "Properly" to 1007 and now all is groovy :p

P.S Apologies to Asus ^_^

Good stuff. Asus will get a lot of beef about this though as the way it flashes the BIOS is somewhat unconventional and will give users the impression the flash has failed.

I already had some similar problem with my old MB, Asus Maximus gene3 gen3...
But I could return the board to where I bought it and get a new one.
