Has any one brought this motherboard if so is the new bios update for it making any difference I.e is the board more stable now etc..

thanks:)

If the flippin' thing worked right it'd own all around it.
Mine has FSB CHASMS, vdroop better described as vplummet, which you could get rid of with LLC, but that allowed almost no droop (and apparently a little is healthy).
I flashed the BIOS, terrified. It cleared, flashed and verified and returned me happily to the OS. I rebooted and......nothing. Machine constantly failed at DET RAM, and sat showing "CPU INIT" on it's poster when "off". I later deduced that the new BIOS was probably woring, but that it defaulted to 1333MHz RAM, which apparently is Kryptonite with my DDR1600. OC were quite happy to sort the board out for me, but I'd never put a protector on before, and made a major NOOB mistake and borked the socket....void warrantee :(
My new Gigabyte and I are best friends already.

BTW.....
LOTS of other people weren't even so lucky as to update to a BIOS that rendered their system incompatible, they just had flashfail and bricked the board.....surface mount bios chip....nice one ya toe rags.

I've got the Striker II Extreme with the 402 BIOS installed to start with.

I thought that I would update to the latest non-beta version - 0602. Bad choice.

My PC would hang in windows at random times. I thought that this was down to my modest OC on my CPU (3GHz to 3.5). I put everything back to stock and still the random hanging in windows.

I then proceeded to installing the 0512 BIOS which I am on currently. This too is rubbish. I still get the same hanging problem, but a bit less frequent this time. I also get an even more annoying problem which is that it hangs in POST. My LCD poster tells me "mem test" and there it stays. I try a reboot - nothing, same problem, again, and again, nothing. Turn the PC on and then all my settings about the OC & memory etc are lost and during POST it tells me my memory is at 1T not 2T, my cpu clock is 1.8 not 3.5. Crazy.

I am trying to put it back to 0402, but this can only be acheived with AWDFLASH. arhhhhh! I don't currently have a floppy drive, or bootable USB key. Awaiting delivery of a USB key to make this boot disk.

However, I am finding this Mobo to be more reliable that the Striker II Formula, as I haven't been getting any Blue screens yet - touch wood.

I'll update on here when I downgrade to 0402.

to be fair its only the NV chipsets they seem to be struggling with. My P5K delux hasn't missed a beat.

Well, I soaked it in feser and killed it stone dead once but I class that as "user error" :)

It's Asus I am beginning to think where the problem lies, not so much NV. They need to get their act together, and stop employing monkey's when it goes to BIOS software! lol

My Striker II Extreme is stable as hell, with 507 BIOS. Can't overclock worth a damn though but I'm happy with stability. I'm leaving the BIOS updates alone for now until a decent one is released and not beta (basically when they've finished messing around with it).
