I am having issues with getting my board to run at 1600Mhz (on the RAM/CPU). No matter what way (auto oc/manual etc) I dont seem to be able to get my RAM to run at 1600mhz stably. Well, tbh, i am having issues even when its at very slack timing (1066) so i guess its not the RAM. The PC will just "freeze" occasionally, this can be on desk top or in game. Tamps are fine, not relly going above 50-55 on NB and SB( load), sitting at 35-42 (idle or load, load is after 2.5 hours of prime blend) on CPU depending on which program i believe, 45-50 on GPU's (idle) Case temp is around 19-21 depending on sunnyness :). With the setting below (i cant remember all of them and im not at home) I got prime to run for 2.5 hours without a single hitch.

Running the same as below but with my RAM at 1600 might work but it owuldnt mem test and i hadnt got round to priming after changing a lot of the settings. I would ideally like to get it working at 1600 linked and synced, or higher. When i Ran it at 1600, tried up to 1.325 Vcore, a nothc extra on all the other volts i have set manually, and tried SB up to 1.6, core 3 would get an error in Prime Small FFT's and sometimes cause a crash. I'm mainly wondering what sort of volts i should be selecting for the ones I've left on auto. Core 3 does run around 8 degrees colder than the other cores, I have reseated my waterblock and paste etc and it made 0 difference. The corsair kit im using states [email protected] for 1600mhz.

The last board/CPU i clocked properly was a P4 socket 478 so didnt have a lot of these options, as such io dont know what i should/shouldnt be doing with them :(

Can anyone offer any advice on the below settings?

I think thats what im on. I updated it like 2 weeks ago. Site is currently down so i cant check which version it was i downloaded.

just remembered, my q9450 is an early one (bought very near release) so w/e stepping that is. Sorry I would have definate info but im not at home and i wont be for a while

Try setting command rate to 1T? I know AndyOCUK has the same RAM as me, but my RAM would freeze in vista with 2T command rate, but was perfectly fine with 1T.

Also, disable P1 + P2 (set to auto). This does make a difference if you benched your RAM using everest. P1 + P1 gives better read + write scores.

I have this board, and could not for the life of me get even 1600 fsb with a 6x multiplier on this board. But, I have been informed by a number of people on various forums that my Q6600 L870A... batch is the thing holding me back. Anything above around 1400 fsb will result in random bsods and restarts.

As I said, try 1T.

Also, try running memtest to see if it's a RAM issue, and disable legacy USB in BIOS before running memtest.

@Andy, I tried your settings, and even with an 6x multi my pc would always reboot after 30-50 minutes. It's crazy. it'll pass intel burn and memtest, but random bluescreens and restarts.

That's a totally different rig!! lol. I have given up at 3ghz with this now.

Just a quick question if anybody will read it.....

It is stable @ 1333 fsb with 9x multi. But is unstable at 1600 even with a 6x multi. Is that mobo or cpu fault? Even with 1.5v NB and 1.6v SB (remebering to keep temps in check) it still bsod and restarted after 30-50 minutes of normal use.

The cpu needs 1.45vcore to stay stable at 3ghz though, which is a hell of a lot compared to other Q6600s. Bad chip?

ok, cheers for the advice, ill check thins out later today when i can be bothered to get out of bed...stupid beer lol
