Good evening everyone!

I'm looking at this laptop: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...-intel-i7-6700hq-gaming-laptop-lt-23k-as.html
I've read that these are 75hz panels, can anyone confirm this please? what about thoughts on the laptop itself? after using a Clevo p170EM the weight of it is getting annoying after having it for over 4 years and want something nice light and compact with a powerful punch. ( any other alternatives I should consider?
I'd be replacing a i7-3740qm with a GTX 680m with custom Vbios at 1050 mhz (50% above stock) now this flies though gets very hot! and has done the battery in laptop keeps going through them now to the point I have to keep the AC plugged in otherwise the laptop turns off :(

Thanks!

Hi there Tommy,

If the panel is 75Hz there's a chance you may be able to overclock.

What are you looking to do with your new laptop, just game or video edit, etc?

What's your budget?

Ideally £1400 if the most I'd like to spend, though I don't want anything too heavy, also something that'll game at 1080p on ultra settings :)

Extra £50 gets twice the sized PCIE SSD 256GB.

And Gigabyte have an active rep on the forums, so that's always helpful.

Hi Tommy,

We noticed the link MiSJAH has posted is the version with Pro OS,,,,, here is the version with home. We have just flagged to OCUK that its showing as "coming soon" but actually they do have stock,,, they will look into why the web-site doesn't reflect this tomorrow.

We also have same spec but in 17.3" form factor if you prefer:

Any Q's please let us know

That's brilliant thank you!! I have been looking at those laptops as they look quite the part and nice and light can you confirm the refresh rate please and is it GSYNC?

I have the 702VM. Only recently got it from OcUK so not had enough time to put it though it's paces and give a full opinion.

Not quite sure how I check to see what the screen refresh rate is? Screen is rated as G-Sync according to the spec sheet.

The user manual both supplied on the laptop and downloadable on the Asus site is incorrect for an incorrect version of the laptop. The manuals imply there are two M2 slots for SSDs. There is only one M2 slot, and as far as I can tell this is SATA only compatible, filled with the 128GB Samsung unit. But the 1TB HDD is 7200RPM compared to most laptops that only do 5400RPM.

It does run hot. Not sure if it's too hot though but temps get well into the 80s on GPU and CPU and the fans are thus going full tilt. Thus the back of the laptop between screen and keyboard is hot to the touch and don't stick your hand near the rear vent holes. I need to find a way to see if the temps means anything is getting throttled.
