ASUS STRIX RTX 2070 SUPER worth it?

I'm looking to purchase a new graphics card, specifically a card from Nvidia. I could purchase the Gigabyte 2070 super gaming oc for about £500 which has a lower boost clock than the strix but is about £140 cheaper. However, ASUS is currently running a 'trade in' program ( https://asustradeup.com/gb/en/pages/graphicscard/home ) which means I could trade in my old GTX 970 for £105 (which is about twice what it would fetch on ebay). So would the strix be worth the extra effort of sending in my old card or would I be able to achieve similar results with an overclock to Gigabyte card?

Id go for the GB myself. A small overclock will push it past the ASUS stock clock quite easily.

I'd go for the Gigabyte as well, especially as you get an additional years warranty.

After a bit more research I've found this card: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-43g-as.html. Even though it only has two fans when compared to both other cards having three, it seems to keep to decent temperatures in the reviews I've read. The ASUS trade in program would also make my effective spend £464.99 which seems like a good deal to me.

They were I think £475 when released (which they obviously aren't now) but weren't on the trade in program. I assume they are now included.

No, they aren't included. Also, the nearest price I can find for the gigabyte card that is actually in stock is £540. If I bought the strix with the lowest out of the box boost clock would there be a good chance of me getting close to the performance of the more expensive card with a manual overclock? Because as far as I can tell all the strix cards have the exact same coolers with the same TDP, with the only difference being their out of the box boost clock.

imho if air cooling three fans is the way to go if money not a problem.

strix OC chips will be voltage binned and will use the most expensive vrm setup.

top line boost numbers are not the whole story.

if going for a custom and want the absolute best then the top end asus is probably the card you want. the lower variations will use lesser binned chips , cheaper vrms (will run hotter) and or cooling solutions.

yep the OC is an expensive card but you get what you pay for.

imho you have to either go with the FE and run it happily (and quietly) at stock, save a bundle, or go for the extra perf and better thermals which you probably won’t see on the screen and pay a whole lot more.

all in i would probably accept a slight performance drop, go for the 5700XT Devil (which has 10 phases and a triple fan) and save myself a 100 sheets over the 10 phase triple fan 2070 Strix OC.

The top end gigabyte card in your OP is a 8+2 phase card and is not in the same tier as the strix OC card but you won’t see the performance difference on screen it will probably be seen in the thermals.
