Hi all My System
Asus Strix Z490-F Gaming Rev. 1.xx Bios 2701
CPU intel core i7 10700K NO overclock
Memory Corsair CMW32GX4M2Z3200C16 X2 32 Gb
added another matching pair Corsair 2 x 16Gb
AMD RADEON RX 6750XT 12Gb
The system Worked Great since the last edition of memory then i get a error in windows during a test that the processor was not working properly and after a reboot aand visit tothe BIOS the system took ages to Post but gave me a safe bios screen asking me to login press F1
Could not get past this no matter how many times i rebooted Started Stripping everything out bit by bit until all that was left in the motherboard was the power, processor, and 4 sticks of RAM
Still would not boot took out 2 sticks left 2 in A1 and B1
system Booted well tried to switched the memory to B1 and B2 and it Worked
Switched the memory for the other 2 sticks and the same booted in either position but Put in All 4 sticks and ity fails to boot
I have not mismatched the ram sticks they are in the correct pairing
I am totally at a loss as to what the problem is open to sugestions will try anything

So you're now running 64GB (4x16), is that correct?

The system Worked Great since the last edition of memory then i get a error in windows during a test that the processor was not working properly

What test? What was the error message exactly?

Since you say Windows, I assume the system booted correctly?

and after a reboot and visit to the BIOS the system took ages to Post but gave me a safe bios screen asking me to login press F1

A safe bios screen? Do you mean that the system failed to boot and then it asked you to enter the BIOS again?

and after a reboot aand visit tothe BIOS the system took ages to Post but gave me a safe bios screen asking me to login press F1
Could not get past this no matter how many times i rebooted Started Stripping everything out bit by bit until all that was left in the motherboard was the power, processor, and 4 sticks of RAM

What do you mean by "get past this"? Did pressing the F1 key not do anything?

Started Stripping everything out bit by bit until all that was left in the motherboard was the power, processor, and 4 sticks of RAM
Still would not boot took out 2 sticks left 2 in A1 and B1

So it will boot with 2 sticks in any configuration, but will not boot with 4, is that what you're saying?

I am totally at a loss as to what the problem is open to suggestions will try anything

Did you have to do anything (the first time) to boot the system with 4 sticks?

Did you enable XMP when you added them?

4 sticks always puts more load on the memory controller, so you may have needed higher voltages and this could be why the system reported a problem and then wanted you to enter the BIOS.

I would suggest that you:
- Clear the CMOS.
- Put two sticks in.
- Do your RAM config (set XMP, the voltage).
- Put four sticks in.
- Hope for the best.

If this does not work, try using a lower frequency (for the 10700K, it has a 2933 stock memory frequency, so I'd try that first).

Do you know if your existing sticks, or the new sticks are dual rank? If they are, you may need a lower frequency and/or higher voltages.

What about the memory chip manufacturer?

So what have I Tried

Bios Reset recommended settings disabled cpu fan warning

Removed all external devices from back of pc except keyboard and mouse booted to safe bios

Remover all hard drives and power + BR-RW booted to safe bios

Removed Graphics card used onboard graphics lowest memory booted to safe bios

Only thing left is memory and processor + heatsink & cooler

Took out A1 & B1 system booted and said no Boot device (not connected)

Swapped the memory into A2 & B2 Booted same

Swapped memory chips for other pair result as previous 2 Steps

Tried all 4 memory boot to safe bios

Installed 2 memory sticks + Boot drive, booted into windows

Changed bios battery

Downloaded the bios flashback bios 2701

While pc switched off inserted memory stick into usb port and held the button for 6 second till light flashed and waited till it went off

Rebooted into bios set defaults disabled cpu fan warning

Rebooted into windows

Tried all memory in pc boot to safe bios

Checked online to see if I could find anyone with a similar problem found similar but totally different Motherboard and no solution

Downloaded memtest86-usb installed to usb drive

Booted memtest and checked each Memory stick did a number of passes toke forever then had to change ram and did it again

Found no ram errors

Looked at some old emails for computer found where I got motherboard : overlockers

Found out the the memory is running at 2 different speeds original ram runs @ 1330Mhz and the added ram runs @ 1066Mhz these are for JEDEC

system has booted with all 4 in has worked since 28/7/23 till now 2/8/23 but computer has not been off or rebooted since so it is the timing settings but i dont know enough to set them up manually the chips are

slot 1 & 3 Corsair DDR4 CMW32GX4M2Z3200C16 XMP 2.0 cas Latency 16.0 RAS to CAS 18 Ras Precharge 18 tRAS 36 tRC 54 Voltage 1.350V slot 2 & 4 Corsair CMW32GX4M2E3200C16 XMP 2.0 Cas Latency 16.0
Ras to CAS 20 RAS precharge 20 tRAS 38 tRC 58 Voltage 1.35v

So any help with the correct settings would be great to make sure they work al the time
THANKS all

What's the current speed? I assume it would be 2133 (1066x2)?

I'd just use the default board timings when you set a manual frequency of 2933 and dram voltage of 1.35v, to start with.

If that works fine, then you can start going up from there. Alternatively, a safer start frequency would be 2666.
