Asus supreme FX probs

just upgraded my rig to asus rampage formula mobo and decided to use the included sound card only im now getting some issues with it, it doesnt seem to want to work with my mic when i try the sound wizard it doesnt hear the mic and when i go into sound properties the mic section is not even showing theres no mic boost box to tick anywhere i just cant find it and to be honest it looks like half the advanced properties sections are missing in the windows sound section, when i reboot it quite often asks which jacks i have just plugged in even though they havent moved and if i ignore it theres no sound or it crashes so need some help really, headphones are logitech gaming (not usb) OS is xp pro any other questions just ask

if you look in the sound max panel just below the mic volume slider theres a green dot and to the right of this theres a little square ,click on that
they hide mic boost there

cheers think its sorted now changed setting in bios from ac97 to hd audio and that seemed to find all the hidden bits that werent showing
