Hi all,

Just bought an Asus TA-212 (silver) midi tower.

Just would like to express my opinions on it!

Firstly you get it and at a glance it looks very nice. The side panels and top are all black though, could have done with being silver (I may re-spray mine im not sure yet).
The front panel is decent quality. But the moving parts are kind of flimsy and not smooth moving, the bottom panel has an audio out and mic in and 2 usb ports, the panel above the power button is a sliding panel, behind this is 2 floppy bays, 3.5, and an awkwardly small reset button that you need a pen to use. Above this is 2 5.25 bays that are just standard and can be pushed out, above these is 2 flappy fronted 5.25 bays that are good but again feel quite flimsy. The power button has no for definite “click” when you press it, it’s kind of like a softkey that you have to press really hard.

Around the power button is a light, which is connected to the hard drive lights on the board, it is orange when there is hdd activity but blue otherwise when they are both on it generates a slightly purple-ish colour.

To get drives in the bays you have to take off the front panel, which is quite easy, you just have to be careful about the cables for the FP connections.
My mobo (a full size atx - abit quadgt socket 775) JUST about fits in, it’s a very tight squeeze.
Getting in the power supply is not a problem and it even has a nice little bracket thing for its right side to sit in.
There is space for 2 fans at the back of the case and one at the front but the front fan will generate limited air flow, you get one fan with this case, but it is not worth using if you want a pc that is a decent noise level.

If you want a 8800 GTX then don’t buy this case unless you are prepared to hack it up!!!
I had to cut a chunk from my HDD rack to fit it in! only an inch or so, but this should not be necessary!

So there is what I think of this case. It’s not the best I’ve ever had to build a machine but its also not the worst. There is some sharp edges etc. but what case doesn’t have them.

For £25 its not bad but it wouldn’t hurt go go for a case 10-15 pounds more.

If anyone has this case with a tuniq tower in, or knows if a tuniq tower will fit could you please post about it?

Thanks,

Russ.
