Hi

I just upgraded my pc with a i7-8700K, Asus TUF Z370 Pro-Gaming and G.Skill F4-4133C19D-16GTZKWC.

The PC boots fine on UEFI default values, but when I activate the XMP profile, I just get a black screen instead of post.

The motherboard supports up to DDR4-4000, but the memory is DDR4-4133. Is that why I can't boot?
I tried selecting the XMP profile, but chancing the speed to 4000. That doesn't boot either.

If I load the default values, and select extreme tuing in the UEFI, I get a 35% overclock on CPU, and my memory is running at 3200.

Do you guys have any tips on how I can get my memory to run faster?
I would expect it to run atleast at 4000, which the motherboard supports.

(I have upgraded the bios to the latest version)

By the way - the MemOK button on Asus board, what does that actually do?
When my PC won't post,. then I push the button and it boots, but ask me to open UEFI and change settings. Is it just a button that reset memory settings to default?

You would expect is totally wrong. Mem OC is not just dependent on the board and the mems. Your cpu imc can also be an issue.

Set xmp. Try all other OC ratios setting as default and work the memory speed up from 3200, expect 3733 or 3866.... Set dram voltage 1.4, Vccio 1.25, Vccsa 1.25 and cpu standby the same and see how you go.

What is the max speed you have achieved then?

Have you tried manually OC the memory

I used the "Extreme Tuning" option in the BIOS. It uses the right timings on the memory, but the speed is lower.
I have manually adjusted it to 3500, where it runs perfect. I should try to make it go faster, but I haven't had the time to do some decent testing.

Okay I didn’t know if you had managed to get it working

Should get higher, you've had two i5 8400's that hit 3600hz with 8 Packs kit and 4000hz with 8700k. Hopefully should hit this mark :)
