Hi im looking to try and overclock my PII x4 955 and i have heard of this fab little program called turboV that comes with ASUS boards. I have an ASUS board but do not have the utility does anyone know if you can get it anywhere? Also im kinda scared to go into the bios and overclock in there hence i would like a little program where i can do it from the desktop, is the PII easy to overclock?

thanks a mill

I am sure a look on the Asus downloads pages for your motherboard will yield the utility you ask for.

I don't know why you are scared of going into the BIOS yourself though. The utility changes all the same settings you would in the BIOS anyway. Go get your hands dirty. The worst thing that can happen is your PC doesn't boot. A CMOS reset and 10 seconds later you're back in business.

I have been trying the ASUS site but its been playing up all weekend when it comes to viewing downloads for boards. I am willing to give the bios a go but im not really sure what im looking for if im honest.

I can guarantee there are hundreds of guides on OCing a Phenom II if you just do a search. Read several guides, and also the OCing subforum here on OcUK. After a couple of hours you should get a good feel of what you need to do. Then go tinker! :D

Like I said, the worst that will happen is your PC wont boot. Many mobos these days will automatically reset the CMOS in such an event. If not, just manually clear the CMOS [usually a jumper you move, some have a switch].

The only way you are ever likely to cause any serious damage is if you try using massive voltages.
