Hello,

I've just purchased one of these laptops and i was wondering if someone could answer some questions for me....

I plan to install my Corsair P128 into the laptop...Would that be ok?

Also, i plan to upgrade the ram from 3Gig to 4Gig..could someone tell me if the laptop has 1 or 2 memory slots please....thanks

thanks

I just bought one too but won't get it till tomorrow I think. Am tempted to upgrade the HD to SSD and maybe the RAM a little later on so will keep an eye out on this thread.

I have just ordered 4GB of ram, the stuff fitted is only 10666, so the Corsair should work, even if it is at the lower speed, not been able to find the MB specs.

SSD not too sure if I am going to bother with that TBO. Have had a couple of Netbooks with them fitted and apart from the quicker boot time, the lack of space puts me off, if I got one with sensible space I have just put this good value laptop into MBP money.

Yeh might forget the SSD idea, but the RAM idea is good if it makes a difference as I got some cex credit and need to use it on something useful.

Well i hardly safe any music or movies onto my machine anyway...But i must admit the SSD and the 4G of ram is making a huge difference...boot up time is great and application access as increased a lot.

Can you try if the RAM itself helped out? As in run some tests 4GB against the 3GB's?
Not got an SSD drive and might not going with that.
Thanks.

I'm by no means a techie but i can safely say it has made a difference compared to my last laptop that had 3G 1066mhz....that extra 1gig really helps.

The SSD option is not for most, but its well worth the upgrade.

thanks for the reply...
Have uninstalled the junk and made it like I want it but I think I can speed it up more by reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows 7 onto it, then the Asus stuff that I want... Currently 63 processes running when at the frontend, my desktop has 43. Got a spare 500GB HD I will swap out and try with that so any problems just go back to the original hard drive.
Then will do the RAM if I can.... Will check whats in my older laptop as thats got 2GB stick in it but not sure on number of pins it has.

Just a quick question, have you noticed a little sensation when you have the charger plugged in from the metal lid?
I think mine is not earthed properly - might have to take it back for a replacement.

Yeh am restoring it now and will take it into a carphone warehouse tomorrow for a replacement...
I have a legit copy of office 2007 that I registered on it, I think a 3 user license one, do I need to tell MS about it to install on the replacement laptop?
