I'm toying with the idea of getting a quicker network card for my laptop.

I currently have a 2.4GHz wireless card and was looking into getting one compatible with the 5GHz frequency so I can make full use of my Asus N66U

The two i've come across are

Intel Ultimate-N 6300

Asus USB-AC53

Now obviously the Intel is internal which from a mobility point of view is great however i'm lead to believe the Asus will offer better speeds and performance. Although I take my laptop to work, this will mostly be for use at home as the office network is fairly slow anyway.

The Asus claims it has over double the speeds of the Intel card, has anyone used either of these and could give me their opinions?

There's isn't much point, in the short-term at-least, to buy an 802.11ac adapter unless you've also got something that supports 802.11ac to connect to.

Also I'd take decent internal laptop antennas over an USB dongle any-day.

Ah that's something I hadn't noticed ha.

Thanks for the input, looks like the 6300 is the way to go.
