Bought this laptop last week. Beautiful to look at, great build quality, but apart from that I am considering sending the thing back.

First of all it has dreadful IPS backlight bleed, which is a real PITA. Also the CPU is seriously sub-par, stutters when watching HD YouTube videos, stutters when playing Miniclip games, goes slow when using Photoshop, loading tabs, etc... I was concerned about the CPU being the bottleneck before I bought it but I didn't expect it to be this much of a step down. Especially considering my last work laptop was only an i3! I was planning on getting it replaced but as I said am now considering sending it back altogether.

Anybody else on here have any opinions on this laptop? Am I expecting too much from it or doing something wrong? Should I stop being tight and splash out on an XPS 13 or a Lenovo T450S?

expecting too much. XPS 13 is a good choice as is 450 (not S as I don't feel the extra cost over 450 offers added value bar around 15% weight difference.

I'm using t440 and t440p for work.

It's just a shame a £700 laptop can't deliver even those simple things. Wondering if I should go desktop + chromebook for meetings etc? That way

i would feel too limited with the chromebook. but that depens on what you use. if you're all about mobility maybe XPS 13 is a better solution.

gaming ehm, I mean work desktop is a must :D

if for work, nice monitor and docking station should do, no need for extra tower.

The only thing is an XPS 13 with 8gb ram and 1080p IPS screen is £1000 ish. Which is crazy when the only real difference between it and the UX305 is the CPU. I'm in such a dilemma now! Why couldn't Asus just put a bloody decent CPU in the thing

Decided just to keep the laptop, but I am going to request a replacement as this one with the backlight bleed is too distracting. Hopefully then I'll get on better with the laptop. Going to purchase a desktop again also to go my more recreational tasks and leave the UX305FA just for business work, as I do agree in that I was expecting too much from it!
