As a programmer I need a decent monitor to replace my HDTV (my TV has messed up my eyes :-D) I don't wanna spend too much, the monitor cannot be too big(24 inch is the max). I'm willing to pay upto 400 quid for a monitor. Could anyone tell me if this monitor is anygood?

I've seen the Hazro monitors, but I dunno if they're overkill for what I need. They seem to be used for photoshop and video editing.

It is a good all-rounder and certainly good value for money at £150. If you have a budget of £400 and you're a programmer then you may benefit from the extra resolution of a 24" 16:10 monitor. The upcoming Dell U2412M should cost around £300 or so and should hopefully be worth its price tag. You would be paying a bit of a premium as a programmer, however, and the aggressive anti-glare coating that the monitor is likely to have may help in brightly lit environments but it can also affect the clarity of text.

I haven't really tested the text clarity specifically on the VE247H but it's one of the better options for the price, overall. Another alternative would be something like the BenQ EW2430 which offers superior contrast and a light matte coating - it displays text with great clarity and comes in at around half of your budget (you can get the EW2420 for even less and this is just as good for text really).
