I just ordered this monitor without being smart and looking up reviews and asking people first like an idiot... please say I made the right decision xP

Awesome monitor, I just bought it and love it. ultimately it will come down to whether u like the glossy screen, i get reflections on the screen when displaying dark images but the IQ compared with a matt anti-glare screen is fantastic. I have one stuck bright ("hot") white pixel on a black background but as I havent noticed it in games I havent tried to get rid of it yet.

I've had mine since December, great monitor for 3D and nice for faster paced fps stuff although I do miss the picture quality of ips, I'm thinking of picking up a 27" Hazro for the slower stuff and games without a 3D Vision profile.

Heard bad things about the response time, the glossy screen put me off, and input lag measurements around the net, I've read all sorts of numbers, average of 8ms, average of 13.
You'll have to give us a review when you get it :D
Do you have a crt or relatively lagless monitor you could test it against? Would love to know which measurement is correct.

While back I had a good look at the VG236HE in my local high street store, liked the design and glossy screen, but was also put off by input lag measurements a few reviews have highlighted.

Well that and £285.00 asking price at the time, was not paying that much for 23" TN panel monitor.

The input lag's fine, i've not noticed any lag whatsoever whilst playing Quake Live.

The VG236H consistently lags 1 frame from the FP241W, regardless of FPS, across about 40 photos I captured of the two displays. It’s always exactly one frame behind.

So what does that mean? Well, we’re likely seeing the difference between the 60Hz refresh rate of the FP241W and the 120Hz refresh rate of the VG236H. The higher refresh rate lets the ASUS show more frames than the FP241W, giving us more granularity. It just so happens that it’s pulling one frame behind, which on average worked out to a lag of 1.9 ms.

Further, Jarred tested the FP241VW which is essentially the exact same monitor as the FP241W but in a different enclosure, and measured input processing lag to be 2 ms compared to the famous HP LP3065 (which has no scaler and no input lag). Thus, a more accurate number for input lag on the ASUS VG236H is the sum of the two, at a much more respectable 3.9ms.

Arcane, there are a lot of conflicting reports on input lag, I could link to a few other reviews that give completely different measurements.
Do you have any way to test it yourself?

Either I'm not susceptible to it or it isnt there to any real extent, I've had about 8 hours gaming on it so far and not noticed anything i didnt like. Coming from a Samsung 2053BW.

Yes, i was surprised when you mentioned it tbh, it does seem a mixed bag as far as reviews go now I've had a quick google. Unfortunately I don't have anyway of testing scientifically, I'm basing my comments purely on playing on it, I genuinely can't notice any lag and I like to think I'm fairly fussy.

To be honest the common approach used in the reviews is not scientific in itself. This is why the figures vary so wildly - an 8.33ms margin of uncertainty and a bit of guess work. Everyone interprets what they see in the common input lag tests differently and values are never absolute.

Sorry about the late reply, I got my monitor! I am unable to test out the 3D as I do not have my 3D glasses, should have them next week or earlier. I do have a secondary monitor to test the response times and input lag, but can I just ask, how do I do so?

I'm thinking of picking one of these up for about £160. I've been using a Dell ST2410 mainly for browsing but also for gaming. Do you think I'll regret the change?

Also, just to check, I can play 3D games and 3D Blurays using the Bluray player in my PC using this monitor in conjunction with the NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit but I can't play 3D via external units like PS3 or Sky3D because this doesn't have HDMI 1.4?

Will I be able to play downloaded 3D video content although I'm not sure this exists yet. 3D VOD wouldn't need a monitor with HDMI 1.4 would it?
