I heard from others that having 120HZ-144HZ does make a difference in not only first person games, but also a certain smoothness in Windows. Well today I got myself an Asus vg248qe and I'm blown away, although I didn't realize I had to buy a Dual Link - DVI and had to set up my calibration as on default it's awful. Still though.. I'm much impressed as everything is so clear, smooth, precise and I have noticed a K/D improvement in Battlefield 4. It's almost as if my previous monitor of 60HZ 5MS + Vsync had a laggy effect.

It did take a bit to get used to at first almost a bit of nausea.

But the biggest thing I've noticed is playing Battlefield 4 without Vsync with no tearing, AT ALL! With my old monitor it would tear all the time, it was awful had to put Vsync on with every game :(

My score? 8/10 just based on the naff default colours which needed a good calibration.

EDIT : Ooops needed to be in Monitors :p

Your previous use of vsync will most definitely have had a laggy effect, that's something inherent to vsync in my experience. It is an absolutely no no for any FPS in my opinion and is something I've never been able to use any games due to having a severe aversion to the lag it introduces! Adding vsync can increase input lag by ~16ms, a big difference to some people.

Really that much? To be honest I would've liked Vsync Off in all my games, but the tearing was so bad it was unplayable in first person shooters. Imagine ripples and tears running down your screen every time you moved.

Colour calibration on this monitor is so difficult to set up, with theater on splendid it gives everything a purple hue. Using game mode and it messes up the colours which need to be adjusted

Does anyone else have this monitor, it's a real pain in the rear to set up the right settings! It seems to be different every day :p
