I have just ordered an Asus Vintage V3-P5945GC socket 775 intel barebones and I would prefer to steer clear of push-pin heatsinks. I cannot stand the design so I would rather use a bolt on cooler that uses a backplate. Does anybody know if a standard one will be ok? Im having trouble finding decent pictures of the inside of this barebones machine.

by standard one do you mean a push pin one? Sorry I've got confused as to whether you're asking if should use the standard heatsink (which is push pin) or advance into which bolt on one to get. :S

Yeh sorry I mean will a standard bolt-on cooler be ok? I cant tell if there is anything obstructing the underside of the motherboard in these asus cases...

The bottom image shows that the plate the mobo fits too is slightly away from the back panel, but doesn't look like much. You should be able to do it as it rises off the panel or if it doesn't fit then chop the panel the board is attached to up a bit and hope it fits within the space before the back panel :D

Hope those pics help a little - they aren't great

there are a few more pics around I can get if you want?
