These looks quite good. IPS screen and has data slot for secondary drive and backlit keyboard. From pictures it looks like enter key is backlit only, or is it the whole keyboard?

I get some discount from well known retail park pc shop and another high street shop. I can see are a few models like m512 or something which is one to go for?

Bought this, bit disappointed I can't add 2.5" SATA internal, it doesn't have cable or connector fitted!! So I bought a 2.5" HDD and I can't use it internally I'll have to use it as a external drive.

What is the screen like? I've read it's quite dim so no good outside.

What model did you go for? if it's 8gb or above is the memory in dual channel mode? I'm finding it hard to track down what laptops have dual channel memory

8gb. CPUZ reports single channel.

It's plenty bright enough indoors. I've just tried it outside and in direct sunlight from battery and 100% backlight it's not bright enough to properly read. But I won't be viewing outside so..

Thanks, single channel ram seems limiting. I'll look at more benchmarks to see how much difference it makes

It has onme spare slot, so would adding another 8GB module make it dual channel or has to be two identical sticks?

Problem I guess with laptops is now they're not modular...memory, battery, storage(s) is not user replaceable.

I've returned the laptop however this does seem to fit a budget niche not too cheap or expensive, ips screen, backlit keyboard, enough ram, ssd and oxto core so bit of a powerhouse...but not gaming laptop which is hot, noisy and high power usage.

Laptop was very quiet, at idle and normal light use wws barely audible

Apart from increasing budget another £250-£500 I can't see anything else

Pity can't add second HDD.

Don't they have a 2nd m.2 slot?
