Hi All,

I've just bought an ASUS VN247H however seem to be having issues with it, I'll try explain the best I can!!

On moving objects I seem to be getting colour distortion around the edges that are moving. These distortions look like squiggly lines of different colours.

I have tried 2 different PCs and on both of the HDMI inputs however get the same problem. If I watch the DVD I've been testing with on the laptop screen it displays fine.

I've reset the monitor back to factory defaults. Any other ideas??

Thanks

Sounds like overdrive trailing (inverse ghosting) to me. The VN247H uses very strong pixel overdrive to speed up pixel transitions and as you're seeing it isn't without its consequences. You can adjust this somewhat by changing the 'TraceFree' setting. Try setting this to '20' or '0' and see if this issue disappears.

I've just decreased it to zero and it's all cleared up now!!

What impact does it have leaving it at zero and is there a fault with the monitor or is this how it's meant to react?

Thanks for you help

It's how it's meant to react. At a TraceFree level of zero the monitor doesn't accelerate the pixel transitions as much (if at all), so the pixels change from one colour to another more slowly. You clearly notice artifacts even at TraceFree 20 when the monitor accelerates things using TraceFree so it's best to leave it off. If you find the responsiveness fine with it disabled (don't notice trailing/ghosting that bugs you) then you don't have a problem. The monitor uses a panel that is natively pretty fast anyway so don't worry about disabling TraceFree.

glad your sorted apart from your issue what do you think of the monitor looking at getting one for my daughter

Could an owner answer some questions for me on this monitor please?

How do the cables exit the rear of the monitor? Under the flap or is the flap open when cables are connected? (Pic would help!). It looks like you will be able to see the cables from the front (I probably would buy right angle HDMIs and VGA to avoid but cannot find a suitable power cable, unless it comes with one?).

What are the 3 3.5mm sockets? I know the pair are audio in and headphones out but what about the 3rd one next to power socket?

Does Aspect Control work on HDMI inputs? I'd want to change to 4:3 on HDMI (wont bore you why!)
