Hello,

My partner and I work as mobile PC repair / support and when customers are deperately in need of upgrading I steer them toward Overclockers rather than no competitor talk! and often find the right system for them helping them through the order process with them making payment and getting delivery to them rather than have it get in the way of callouts etc.

One customer recently had a primo 6200a with an Asus VS228H from yourselves which we set up for them.
We had several complaints that the monitor wasn't coming on (ie screen staying black but with power LED on). We loaned them another monitor while we took the Asus and over the course of 3-4 weeks tested it with about 6 different PC's of varying specifications. It took this long for the fault to show, in fact power cycling made the screen flash with the Asus logo. I checked in the manual and there was no issue with the resolution it was trying to display however I did find this from page v (red text) -

The following symptoms are normal with the monitor:
• The screen may flicker during the initial use due to the nature of the
fluorescent light. Turn off the Power Switch and turn it on again to
make sure that the flicker disappears.
• You may find slightly uneven brightness on the screen depending on
the desktop pattern you use.
• When the same image is displayed for hours, an afterimage of the
previous screen may remain after switching the image. The screen will
recover slowly or you can turn off the Power Switch for hours.
When the screen becomes black or flashes, or cannot work anymore,
contact your dealer or service center to fix it. Do not repair the screen
by yourself!

Seems odd for a new monitor, is this a common problem? Am about to advise the customer they need an RMA.

cheers

sounds odd. What interface are you using to connect to the screen? are you set at 60Hz refresh rate only (recommended) as well?

if it continues to be a problem I'd RMA it to Asus (note, i dont work for OcUK, just offering some advise:))
