I hope to purchase this monitor for someone.
I currently have a 21" crt.
I have two computers.
1 the pc to go with the screen which is an HP compaq dc7600 with onboard video, the other is my pc with a Nvidia 7600GT AGP.

The optimum res for the asus is 1440 x 900?

Both of my two pc's when connected to my CRT display resolutions higher and lower than this, the closest 1400 x 1100 something,

The next best match to the Asus is 1280 x 1024

Question is, will the HP, Auto detect the ASUS and let me select 1440 x 900 after I get it or will it only allow 1280 x 1024.

If I end up being able to only select 1280 x 1024 will the image be good enough? Particularly for text?

Thanks.

51 views and everyone knows as little as me about Displays and resolution outputs!

Help!
Yet again, these forums are for kids and not techies. Shame

In my own route to finding out the answers my un qualified conclusions are that there are few graffics cards pumping out the correct 1440 x 900 res.

Still no answer if a lower res of 1280 x 1024 which is accepted by this screen looks good or iffy.

Maybe I will call asus tech support or overclockers and get some sort of answer.................

calm down! :p

the graphics card will auto detect the screen connected and you'll be able to use 1440 x 900 dont worry, even if it is not a selectable option now

Thanks Baddass.

Just incase the compaq PC doesnt want to output that res, will 1280 x 1024 look pants for MS word and IE?

Thanks Mark

when you get the monitor could you please report back on whether it suffers from back light bleading, im interested in getting this monitor but want to make sure its dont suffer from this issue too much :)

Thanks for the question, but it does not look like I will be getting this screen now, maybe post your own thread to see if there are any other users?
