Anybody know how ASUS handle used items? basically I bought a GPU off a friend a while back and its died, its just under a year old but as I am not the original owner and don't have the receipt I guess im screwed? or do they tie the GPU warranty to the card not the owner like with their mobos?

Can't you get your friend to sort the RMA for you?
I'm not sure how Asus deal with their warranty, but I wouldn't risk telling them the serial number before you get the right information.

I had faulty Google nexus. They have required copy of receipt and when you phone them expect to have loooooong conversations before they accept it, that the product is indeed faulty.

Oh and even if you manage to get prove of purchase expect to wait few weeks before you receive fixed item back.

As it's under 12 months old, the first port of call is the place of purchase.

If it's a decent retailer they should look after the warranty for the full term

I believe that Asus components have to be RMA'd through the retailer for the whole of the warranty period. As your retailer has gone bust you are screwed. Asus is one of the worst companies to deal with directly even if you can get a answer out of them.

so you will need to contact asus...
tell them that you lost the receipt and see what they are going to say.

good luck with that one.... asus are almost impossible to contact in the UK and they don't have an RMA system anyway that deals with anything but laptops and screens. Unless things have changed recently...

I had to send My Asus Rampage III extreme motherboard back, had it less than 2 years and its 3 years warranty so I was lucky. Send it back to OC , they give you an RMA and send it to them because its over 28 days old. Unfortunately for me I sent it 17th of June and im still waiting a month later for a reply. I hate laptops cant cope ......
