This is something that I find absolutely puzzling. Asus these days seem to be releasing 965chipset boards faster than bios updates. They have announced the p5b premium http://www.clubic.com/actualite-67928-asus-cartes-meres-windows-vista-p5b-premium.html
That means we now have
P5B
P5B-V
P5B-VM
P5B-E
P5B-E Plus
P5B-E Premium
P5B-Deluxe
P5B-Deluxe Wifi
P5B Commando
not to mention the vast amounts of 975x chipset boards. All I can say is wow.

Who's going to be the first to list all the key differences between those boards then?!?! :D

If only they would improve their customer support and concentrate on making existing boards work properly by way of new bios's, rather than just releasing more boards. :(

asus are becoming the cowboys of motherboard's
they look good with fancy painted copper heatsinks
but in reality every 1 of their boards suffers some problems
they throw out bios' after bios and the their, the same bios
just renamed to a diffrent number ( to keep people happy)

thats why they dont have a changelog for their bios's
because nothing has changed and when they do
put up a changelog it always says
added support for new cpus lmao.

they also dont build to specfications replacing key components
with cheaper solutions ie marvel yukon lan
(this must be one of the slowest lans i used in the last 4 years)
poor plastics and overcharge.

i will not buy any more asus no matter how good the motheboard
looks, i like my motherboards to be speedy in booting up
all the features to work, thats what makes a good motherboard.

Exactly, I'm going to buy a e6600 next month and I don't know which asus board to get.

I agree there are too many.... which just gets confusing.

It wouldn't be so bad if they put them in some sort of order on their website, just so we know which ones perform better.

Well if they make enough boards, they may get lucky and release something half decent.

Fair enough, they make stable boards - but the overpriced tat that are RoG boards do nothing special that other boards can't do.

Anybody know the difference between these two:

Asus P5N32-E SLi nForce 680
Asus P5N32-E PLUS SLi nForce

Asus is indeed one heck of a motherboard manufacturer.

However, this is an example of their recent carelessness in regard to the consumer as well as their own engineering.

Those two boards are physically identical save for the fact that the PLUS version has all solid capacitors whereas the non-plus has "mixed".

One is left wondering exactly why Asus chose to release what is in effect a "clone" board with this small but significant alteration.

Then when you read such information as can be found.

here

and

here (see posts 7 and 9).

It certainly gives one cause to doubt the presence of any rational thought or goodwill amisdt the upper ranks of Asus's management of late.

And to the OP, it's almost as bad on the conroe/nvidia side of the fence.

PN5D2-SE
P5N32-SLI SE
P5NSLI
P5N-E SLI
P5N32-Premium
P5N32-E SLI
P5N32-E SLI PLUS
Striker Extreme!!

Utterly absurd.
