Bought an Asus x99-s and a 5820k from the MM but can't get the board to boot.

Get the error 53 code which is memory fault using 2x8GB DDR4 2400MHz Corsair vengeance LPX.

So far I have tried:

1st stick in every slot - error
2nd stick in every slot - error
Both sticks in A1/A2/ - A1/B1 - A1/C1 - A1/D1 - error

Have tried all the possible configurations and still get the error.

Taken the psu cable out and the battery for 30 minutes - error.

Reset CMOS - error
Mem test - error

Tried without memory - error

Taken out the CPU, reseated, clamped down using only the CPU socket - error

Tried all of this with 3 sets of memory - error

Completely black screen, no bios logo etc

Have taken the board out of the case, only the CPU and power cables are being used - error

I'm lost as to my next step now.

Can't check what bios is running as don't get a picture, board doesn't support onboard graphics.

Any tips before I throw it out the window?

Is the memory on the QVL list for the board?
Do you have other memory you could test with?
Can you test the memory in another board?

Yeah it is, I've tried with 3 sets of memory and none work, all memory tested in my gaming rig and working fine.

On the basis that you've tried 3 sets of known good RAM, i'd suggest an alternate PSU followed by CPU (if available). After that you'd need access to a spare board to confirm the CPU works.

Psu is fine, used the one from my current system, probably just easier for me to buy new hardware than keep putting money into this to try and fix it.

Tried pushing the mem ok button on board?
Yeah, it cycles through 5-6 times but same thing happens every time, also the MEM OK led stays lit which I think indicates either an error with memory slots on the board or memory configuration.
