Asus X99 High End System having boot issues, please help :-(

I personally don't think it is a hardware issue, tbh I reminds me of a problem I had with the old intel rapid storage drivers and software. Occasionally the machine would not boot and just hang with the same flashing cursor you have. The problem was resolved by updating the software a newer version.

Do you have a version of that software on your system?

The hard drive hasn't kicked in at this point though so how can it be a driver or software problem, it does it trying to even install windows on a fresh new sata drive.

that indicator is to do with the drive booting or looking for it booting.

so i would say its the hard drive.
maybe a usb device plugged in stopping it.
bios issue.

clear cmos just incase.maybe flash.

some boards on x99 have boot issues google it.

hope you solve it.

Yes they do have issues, I found loads of them, supplier has spoken to Asus manager and they are saying there is NO problem, I have sent videos/ you
tube clips/ forum posts showing them and they still say Asus say there is no issue.

I have tried 2 new hard drives, SSD and regular sata drive still the same. I bought a new main board £330, new mouse/ keyboard and £110 on Ram. Flashed to latest BIOS and still same.

I don't know what more I can do?

you tried single sticks of ram ? and booting something is stopping it.

make sure no usb things you dont need are in.

I haven't tried a single stick of Ram but I did buy a new set of quad channel corsair because people HaD suggested it was that even though it passed memtest86
I only have a keyboard and mouse plugged in nothing else.

After further investigation into X99 chipsets in general it looks like some systems are having problems with the UEFI. I will install yet another hard drive and test that theory with it disabled.

Yeah right at the start I had done a BIOS reset and flash ofnthe old x99 board and on the replacemt x99 3.1 version it was disabled by default anyway. I haven't turned it on since because the machine can't successfully start every single boot.

Are you sure that this isn't certain peripherals, complying to the XHCI standard ?

I had this exact same problem, flashing cursor in top left corner, but when I disconnected certain peripherals, it would boot into windows every time.

What peripherals have you got connected ?

I dont have any prepherals when im testing for the issue, just 1 SSD, 1 keyboard and 1 mouse. the keyboard is Corsair K95 RGB which was purchased at the same time as the system last FEB and the mouse is Ropccat Tyone which is fairly recent about NOV last year.

Will try with no mouse or keyboard.

I had something similar the other day. Machine wouldn't boot past a black screen with a flashing underscore.

For some reason my C: partition wasn't the boot and my boot manager moved to a random X: partition. I managed to get it into safe mode using a bootable USB. Got into command prompt and deleted the 100mb boot partition. I then restarted and done a windows repair to create a new startup and bosh it worked. I'll try and find the guide.

This is what I followed http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/241974-system-wont-boot-after-removing-second-hard-drive-efi.html

I think you've cracked it!!

Without keyboard and mouse... Touch wood I have booted and shut down with power button and re started some 15 times now, each time it's worked fine.

Now the problem what's causing it and how do I stop it?

Computers are hard to use without those 2 bits ;-)

I have a spare keyboard and mouse, a razor Lachesis and uhmm some keyboard that lights blue, can't think of its name.
