Asus X99-S Questions

After two months of having a box full of components for a new build lying around I eventually got around to building my system over the weekend. Luckily I had no defective parts, but I have a few questions.

The core spec of the system is:

Asus X99-S (as the tile suggests)
Intel i7-5820K
Phanteks PH-TC14pe Cooler
32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2666Mhz Ram
Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Case
Phanteks PH-F140SP fans (x4)
Palit GTX980ti Super Jetstream

So I assembled the system and I must admit its been a long time since I built my own computer, the last was a 386/486, so there were lots of new things to take on. Everything went together OK although the CPU cooler took two attempts, but there were a few things that I'm not sure about.

Memory - although the memory is rated at 2666Mhz, the BIOS is showing it as 2133Mhz. The XMP profiles give me an option of changing to 2667Mhz (profile 1) and a higher speed (profile 2) which I can't remember what it was. If I change to profile 1 or 2 I sometimes get a "overclock failed" message on boot. Anyway I don't understand why the default clock speed for the memory is not 2666Mhz. Is there a switch on the board I need to change? In the manual there are three switches additional switches which I'm not sure about :

"TPU" and by default is off, I can set this to "Enabled - CPU Ratio Boost" or "Enabled CPU BCLK & Ratio Boost"
"EPU" and by default is off
"EZ XMP" and by default is off.

What do I do with these, I assume these are to enable overclocking, but I'm not sure.

FANS - So my case has a built in PWM hub which before I started the standard case fans were all connected to this (2 x PH-FP140SP 1 in roof and 1 at back & 1 x PH-F200SP in the front). I bought some additional fans, the same type as the ones already installed to install in the roof of the case and one in the bottom. These I have also connected to the PWM hub, then the PWM hub I connected to the 4 pin connector "CPU_OPT". The two fans from the CPU cooler I have joined to a splitter and connected to the 4pin connector "CPU_FAN".

However on the motherboard there are additional fan header connectors, 4pin "CHA_FAN1,2,3,4" & 5pin "Ext_FAN", should I have connected the fans to these connectors instead of the PWN hub. In the BIOS I can see two of the fan detectors active which I assume is the PWM hub and the CPU cooler.

Now I may have bought the wrong fans to get them to work with the PWM hub correctly, as the same model I purchased was already installed in the case I assumed I was doing right, but I have since found that there are PWM specific fans that vary speed dependant on the heat build up. So I assume the fans I have will just operate at a constant speed.

My apologies if my questions are dumb in any way but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction or suggest changes?

Thanks in advance

I've just built something similar - see sig. In the BIOS I'd hit F5 to load defaults and wait for someone who knows their stuff to reply. From my own research I think 2666MHz memory needs a bclk of 125, make sure the XMP is setting this.

I've got "Corsair LPX DDR4-2666 MHz" memory as well. Anything over 2133 MHz is overclocking. Selecting the XMP profile makes it easy to overclock the memory.

I didn't touch the switches on my X99-S motherboard. I just made sure I had the latest BIOS running with default settings and then selected the 2666 MHz XMP profile. It's been running stable.

In my Fractal Define R5 case I have two 140mm inlet fans in the front which are connected to a three speed switch behind the front door. It's not connected to the motherboard.

For the outlet I use the 140mm NZXT Kraken CPU cooler in the back of the case.
