Hi

any opinions on which of these to buy, Currently using a soundblaster x AE5 but fed up of it working for a few days and then it stops working, apparently due to w10 not letting it run properly and driver isssues

will be buying this afternoon all being well...on a side note any other suggestions what to buy...my head set is bayerdynamic mmx 300

thanks

I wouldn't put any money on the Asus cards working any better. Asus haven't updated the drivers for those cards for over 2 years and the STX II, hasn't seen a driver update since the Dead Sea Scrolls were written.

Both companies are poor when it comes to driver updates. Ironically, given Creative's past when it comes to updates, they are doing a better job than Asus currently.

Shame really, as the hardware is good, just let down so often by the drivers. Microsoft doesn't help either constantly breaking something with their updates...

You may get some joy with an Asus card, but it's probably hit and miss as to whether they will work fine given Microsoft's updates often causing something or other not to work properly.

Trouble is, there isn't a great deal of choice if you make use of Creative's SBX prostudio positional sound algorithm.

I have no use for any of that and just use a DAC/amp; but even just USB audio has been causing trouble for some people. It seems there is no where to hide when it comes to audio problems with Windows 10....

well I thought I would wait for answers before I bought anything so have not spent any money yet....I am using onboard at the minute but considering it is supposed to be a high quality onboard it is not good...but then again I think it is windows problems again...i dont even have an drive console to make settings...it just installs the drivers...you spend good money on kit but it wont work properly on w10.

When you have things working at least disable automatic driver updatebreaking of Wintoys10.

"Old timers" (including me) used to curse Bill Gates, but in reality Microsoft has gone only to worser direction under the helm of Ballmer and Nadella.
I certainly miss the times when for avoiding most problems you needed only to install firewall software (or preferably use router/NAT) before connecting PC to internet.

As for headphone gaming sound card change should be toward customizable HRTF, like in Sound Blaster X3.

this x3...is it similar sort of thing to a creative Sound Blaster Omni and are you saying its ok to use this type of creative sound card, I ask because i was thinking of going asus so as not to use creative drivers
