I think I'm going to ask a really dumb question but... is my Xonar D2 about to pop its cloggs?
I got in last night and started playing some music, except it would keep stuttering and nothing sounded right, lots of nasty noises. I rebooted (32 days uptime
) and Windows decided it had found new hardware but couldn't install drivers. Device Manager reported the Xonar card as a generic multimedia device and wouldn't install drivers. Firing up the Asus driver setup package told me that no compatible hardware was installed. Not looking good.
Powered down, pulled the card out to have a quick look for anything obvious. First thing I noticed was how warm it was. Let it cool down, re-fitted, started up and it was fine. Updated drivers, still fine.
Just got in this evening and now I've got static coming through on the speakers and an extremely hot sound card - the back of the PCB is barely touchable.
So I guess it's on the way out - unless this sounds like another issue to anyone else? Bit gutted really, absolutely love this thing. By far the best sound card I've ever used.
